Taste Test Tuesday Author Zenobia Renquist

Welcome to Taste Test Tuesday!

Today's guest is author Zenobia Renquist. Welcome, Zenobia! Tell us about your Wet series.

I have a deep love of Japan. When I heard about the Wet series, I knew my water character would be Japanese. Instead having the hero inhabit water, I had him be made of water. Japan has a lot of mythological figures from which to draw story inspiration, so coming up with the hero’s background story was pretty easy. The rest was just my sick mind at work…

Still water hides deep passion.

Lulu was sent to spy on the competition while pretending to be a guest so she could find out the secret of their success. Her search turns up Hotsuma, a man bound to water so he can use his power to bring good luck to those who imprisoned him.

Working to set him free ignites a passion in Lulu only Hotsuma can quench, but they can’t afford to let sex, no matter how good, distract them. Hotsuma’s captors aren’t about to let Lulu leave with their property and they are willing to use deadly force to stop her. More than luck is needed if Lulu and Hotsuma want their new love to survive.

Genre: Erotic MF Fantasy Romance, Interracial/Multicultural

Excerpt:
"That's sweet, but we still don't know why I'm the woman who can set you free. And speaking of which, let's get to it. Masato is getting serious. We need to get you out of that room before he brings in the priest."
"Duck down."
Lulu took a breath and slipped below the water. She felt the shift this time when Hotsuma moved her from the hot springs to the pool room. She needed to ask how he could do that. Then again, it didn't really matter. She was just happy he could. It saved her from trying to sneak down the hidden hallway.
She surfaced in the middle of the pool and looked around. Nothing had changed. Masato might suspect something, but he hadn't done more than summon a priest. She hoped that was all he did.
"Are you ready?" Hotsuma hugged her waist, bringing her ass up against his arousal.
"You certainly are." She giggled when he kissed her neck.
"The ladies in the hot spring were very… invigorating."
"You could act a little embarrassed."
"I could but I would be lying. Just like I would be lying if I said I only wanted you here to break the wards." He slipped one hand down her stomach and between her lower lips.
The feel of his fingers passing over her clit made Lulu bite her lip to keep from moaning. She let her head fall back onto Hotsuma's shoulder. "We haven't started yet."
"You haven't started yet. I see no reason to wait."
"Hotsuma, the barrier." Her feeble attempt at arguing lost to the pleasure spreading through her body.
Water pushed at her breasts as Hotsuma guided her to the edge of the pool. "There." He strummed her clit.
"Oh, yes. Right there."
"I meant the ward, Lulu."
She touched the edge of the pool and barely registered the shock of the ward breaking. Hotsuma rewarded her by moving his fingers faster. She rocked her hips against his touch, which also rubbed her ass cheeks over his hard dick.
"So good," he whispered as he slid his fingers lower and dipped two into her hole. "So tight."
Her breath came out in huffs. His fingers rubbed her inside, bringing her close to an orgasm. Was it the spell's side effects making her this hot or Hotsuma? He massaged one of her breasts with his free hand and she stopped caring.
"Next."

Service Saturday with Michele Hart

Welcome to Service Saturday!

I'm turning over the blog today to author Michele Hart. Welcome Michele!

Hello, Romance lovers!
I’m Michele Hart, and it’s my day on Tonya’s blog to talk about sexy cops. That what I told her I wanted to talk about. I write gritty space adventures with badge-carrying demon slayers hunting down the creatures, spirits and mortals, who would enslave the worlds. The stakes don’t get much higher. The Bad Guys don’t get uglier than shape-shifting demons bent on spoiling the Mortal Realm.
Back to sexy cops. They disturb my breathing. What does a big, brave, heat-packin’ alpha male do for you? You can tell me about it. I won’t tell anyone.
For your entertainment, I’m bringing in Jack, my sexiest demon hunter. And I’m bringing in his first kiss for you. Don’t you love first kisses? Good ones start fires. Great kisses start wildfires that never die. No one knows how to spark an inferno like Jack. Just read the reviews to find out. Look for the comments on Jack’s proficiency with chocolate.

Cop or convict?

How many faces can one man own?

An assassin wearing a holographic mask and a prison tattoo boards Rachel’s freighter during a prison riot, intent on collecting gadgets capable of changing a man’s identity from the black-market gang who'd stolen them. Rachel’s never sure of Jack's identity nor his goal, but he claims to be an Alliance I-Marshal. Cop or convict? The clues never stop contradicting. She's horrified to find the bright holographic mask conceals the gruesome face of a monster. And the badge doesn’t slow him from murdering people right before her eyes.
When Rachel learns Jack will trade innocent lives for the digital miracles, she determines to make the mercenary grow a heart. How could a stone-cold killer kiss her so hotly? How could she kiss such a dangerous deceiver?
Jack has done years in prison to learn who’d stolen the remaining Gemini ticks, 3-D magic. Nothing will keep him from gaining extreme technology capable of unleashing galaxy-wide chaos. Forget feelings for Rachel. She can’t stop him from killing everyone involved.

Now for that excerpt…

Rachel's maiden voyage into smuggling is cut short by a prison riot, and an imposter boards her ship carrying a cop's badge and wearing a prison tattoo and a holographic face. A masculinely beautiful, digitally perfect disguise. But Jack is a stone-cold killer with few boundaries, and he’s about to take Rachel on an interstellar killing spree. Beware avenging angels.

This is a sweet and titillating excerpt from my new Sci-Fi Romantic Adventure, Luminous Nights. LN was a finalist in the 2011 Golden Quill Contest. Find out why.

[ This excerpt is rated PG-13 for a steamy kiss and sexual reference. The good stuff. ]

“I’m not authorized to hand itineraries to every slick, badge-waving power jerk who boards my ship.”
Jack’s fake sky-blue eyes sparkled from the insults. “So you think I’m slick?”
Rachel’s brow dived into her sight. She thought his bulletproof pursuit of her cute, but she couldn’t let him know that. It was a sure bet the number of his bedpost notches constituted a furniture mauling.
“Get over yourself, Marshal. If you’ll excuse me, some of us have to work for a living.”
Jack propped a combat boot against the galley entrance, preventing her exit.
“Don’t brush me off so quickly, Rachel. You don’t know what I’m willing to barter for that itinerary and the name of Xerxes’ contact on Desmonda Station.”
Looking into his handsome face she knew was projected by holographic technology, she became interested in hearing the imposter’s enticements for its entertainment value. “What do you have to barter that I’d be interested in?”
“How about that surrender you requested?”
“I thought you never surrender, Marshal.”
“I had less of a technical surrender in mind than a custodial transfer of my physical self into your private servitude, prepared to take on missions of erotic nature.”
She couldn’t stifle her smile. “Private servitude. I could have you wash my windows.”
“My better skills concentrate in the bedroom.”
“Oh, yes…missions of erotic nature.”
Not the slightest bit disarmed by her sardonic tone, Jack reached out and tugged the zipper of her techsuit down achingly slow past her cleavage to her bra. He gave her his weaponized eyes of blue laser, powerful enough to break any woman’s will. Then he bit his bottom lip as though relishing the temptation of climbing into her techsuit with her. It was a lethal combination. Her blood surged through her body at the application of it.
“Do you often offer yourself as a reward for evidence?”
“This is my first time. Does it show?”
“Not at all. What makes you think I’d find value in your private servitude, Marshal? Enough value to break the law?”
His hypnotic eyes twinkled, took her over, and lingered a bit too long. “I can set a fire on Pluto. I’ll melt an iceberg like you.”
He did set her to a simmer with his eyes and voice alone. She hadn’t reacted to a man like that in a long time. And she knew better than to let it happen. But Jack was a beguiling kind of fun. She couldn’t resist playing along.
“I don’t think you can…” she teased in a dilatory, cold challenge, brushing his shoulder of lint from his white shirt, “melt an iceberg…like me.”
Jack’s hand rose to her cheek and slipped into her hair. She was stunned to respond, having underestimated his hubris. She’d thought his threat an empty one. The stroke of his thumb against her cheek robbed her of her nerve. The will to protest his intimate contact fled her.
Her thoughts stopped at the silent command of his sky eyes. The masculine smell of him urged her obedience. Her legs felt like noodles.
Before she could step away, he brought her to his mouth and, with a half-second’s pause, Jack kissed her gently. His free hand at her back, he pressed her against his big, warm body, and he deepened the contact into a softly invasive kiss of restraint and quiet passion instead of a harder kiss more physically driven. The unexpected tenderness sent an awakening burn through her, inflicting on her a head-to-toe sizzle, something she’d never before felt. She didn’t want his unwanted kiss to end.
When he released her, she had to remind herself to breathe, to retake possession of her mental faculties. A sweat burst upon her body. If he’d kissed her any longer, she’d have needed to shed her clothes to keep them from catching fire. The places his hot hands had been were now cold without them. Rachel thought her knees would buckle.
Jack was right. He could set a fire on Pluto.

Fiery Friday - Tiana Laveen

Welcome to Fiery Friday!

My very first guest for the Fiery Friday feature is Tiana Laveen. Tiana Laveen is a uniquely creative and innovative author whose romance fiction is geared towards those who not only want to temporarily escape from the daily routines of life, but also delve into social taboo as it pertains to interracial relationships. Tiana creates a painting with words as she guides her reader into the lives of each and every main character.

Welcome, Tiana. I'm glad to have you as my first Fiery Friday featured author! So tell me, What do you feel is critical to developing a novel that will glue the reader’s ebook device in their hands until the last page?

I have found that the old adage is true. You have to start with an engaging first few pages. Of course there needs to be background and some of the more tedious details in the piece as well, but if at all possible, avoid doing that on the first 1-3 pages. Throw the audience in the middle of something and it doesn’t necessarily need to be an action scene, but it needs to be something that pulls on the emotions or opens a window into what is to come. It could even be a comical scene, but the point is, it needs to be attention grabbing and engaging.

Women relate to women and, more often than not, we’re left shaking our heads at men. As a woman, how do you write your male characters in their point of view and make them the hot alpha heroes us romance readers fall in love with?

This is the interesting thing because I prefer to write from the male voice. I have always been more comfortable in that format, I feel I can relate better to that even though I’m obviously a woman. I think in part, it is because I have always had mostly men as friends, and there is just an understanding there so when I write from the male POV, I look at it as ME – just my alter ego, because that is how I really feel. I understand men, more than I understand myself sometimes, lol – so it isn’t a labor or difficult for me to do. If I were a man and had a ‘wish list’, I’d want to be an alpha. I get ‘into character’ and go from there.

Why romance? Do you believe it exists in the real world?

Yes, I do and romance chose me, I didn’t chose it. I was writing and soon discovered that about 75% of my poems and stories were romance driven. It just happened. It wasn’t a conscious decision.

What is your idea of the perfect hero? Heroine?

I don’t really think there is a perfect hero or heroine because I believe each one should be treated differently. Now, there are some people that want the same type of hero and heroine in each piece they write and/or read, and that is simply a matter of preference. I’d say my only consistency is that I don’t like there to be lack of growth in a character. Not all characters change or grow the way we may want them too, or the reader wants them to, but there needs to be something in them that has evolved. For me personally, that is paramount. I have no desire to see tough cookie heroines all the time from start to finish and hero’s that don’t care about anything and only think about how to use someone. I think you can have an alpha that is hard-lined and edgy, without making him unlikable and you can have a strong woman/heroine, that cries and gets weak sometimes. I like her to be a ‘real woman’ in that regard. No, she doesn’t have to be whiny and weak throughout the book, but hell, things happen! I’m not into ‘Superhero/heroines’ as far as from the start to finish. If they are that way in the end, awesome, but I need more dimension than that. I know the novels are often times for escapism, but to me, that is the semblance of reality that I need. The characters need to be identifiable and tangible. No one grows into adulthood without shedding a tear or two over a romantic situation that left them twisted...

If you had access to a time machine, what year would you travel to and why?

1978 or 1979. I absolutely love the 70s, especially in an urban environment and I believe that I was simply ‘meant to be there’. It is a time when people respected each other more, there was still a sense of respect for one another. Crack cocaine had not hit the scene, destroying families, etc. There was cultural awareness without trying to tear another group down as much. I love the freedom, the clothing, the music, the décor – and I hope that when I die, I’m allowed to ‘be there’ as a young adult in some other dimension, enjoying myself to the fullest.

If you could have dinner with any three people in the world, who would they be and why?

Hmmm, well, you didn’t say living or deceased, so I’ll answer both, lol. Zora Neale Hurston – she is my favorite author. She was innovative and terribly misunderstood as a writer. I’d want to interview her. I like that she wrote things that weren’t popular at that time, but didn’t care – she wrote from the heart, not for reviews, praise etc. I look up to her for that. My grandfather (deceased) He was an editor and civil rights leader and one of my favorite people. He was a black man that loved to write and read – it was in my blood and I’d love to have one more chat with him. As far as living people, I’d say Queen Latifah – I look at her as a Renaissance woman and pioneer. She is multi-talented and seems like a ‘good person’ and I tend to gravitate towards positive people, especially people I can learn from.

Who is you favorite character that you’ve created and why?

Saint Aknaten. He is dynamic, loud, obnoxious, funny but strong, sexy and smart – and I love that combination. And...he practically wrote his own books. I didn’t have to do much, he took care of everything, lol.

You wake up one morning and realize you’re suddenly a kid again, but you remember everything about being an adult. What advice would you give yourself?

Oh boy, several things! First, take your time with love and things aren’t as bad as they seem. Focus on what you love, and try your best, to be the best you can be at it. Don’t waste your time on people who really don’t care about you nor wish you the best in life, you’re worth more than that.

Did you have a predetermined plan when you began your writing career and, if so, has that plan changed since your books have been released?

I’ve written since I was a tiny little girl, and ironically, I’ve been writing erotica since I was in the fifth grade, as perverted as that may sound, lol. I wrote all sorts of things, but for some odd reason, I had a strange preoccupation with topics that a child wasn’t ‘supposed’ to be thinking about. All of this stayed in my mind, however – I wasn’t ‘acting out’ but I lived in a fantasy land so I always knew I’d love to be a published author, but I didn’t think that would ever happen. I actually went to college for marketing, and got my BA in business communication. I have a certification for Human Sexuality, however, lol – and it proved to be helpful when I write. None of it was planned – I simply had a friend who was published, we were talking on facebook, one thing led to another and here I am. Now that it is happening however, I know that this is what I was always supposed to be doing. Before hand, I had notebooks, boxes and then my computer – chock full of stories, and some full length books. Now, I can share them with the public.

Aspiring authors are always eager to hear advice. What would you say to them?

It is important to do your research regarding the business end of this. I thought I was business savvy, well I am as it pertains to corporate America but to the writing world? Not so much. I had a baptism by fire. Some rather unsavory things happened that gave me a woke up call and I now know but here is my general rule(s) of thumb:

1. Get an editor. Yes, friends and relatives that are ‘great at English/grammar’ are a plus, for a second set of eyes, but it is imperative that someone with a trained eye for also content issues (duplicity, etc.) have your manuscript before it is submitted anywhere. You’d be surprised what will be found that we as the author, completely overlooked and it could make an otherwise good piece of work sink like quicksand, without the help. With that said though, keep the storyline you want to keep – fight for it if you have too. If you’re adamant about something, don’t be bulldozed but a great editor is key to polishing your piece and weeding at some things that make it less enjoyable for a reader. My first novels didn’t have that and though I still believe they are good pieces, if I had had an editor, I could have avoided a few pitfalls. NOTE: I did get an editor for my third novel and beyond, but had to go through many before I had found the right fit. Even professional editors many times have editors, so that should tell some writers that it truly is a necessity.

2. You have to be dedicated. This cannot be something you do one or two hours a week. There is not a day that goes by that I’m not writing, researching for a WIP I am writing or thinking about how to work out a difficult scene. I have two small children and a husband as well as other obligations, but I still know it has to be done and more importantly, I WANT to do it. Talent without drive stays in park.

3. There will be people who want you to fail. Accept it, it comes with the territory. If you’re feelings are hurt easily – then get ready to lose your mind. There are trolls, negative writers who become jealous of other’s success and scan the web to slam people (may sound silly, but it is true, albeit pathetic) and simply people that are ‘hard’ readers who will say things about your novel, some of which may be true, but their delivery is acidic and has fangs. It isn’t meant to actually help you, it is created to hurt you – don’t let it. Keep in mind, they don’t know you personally (usually) – and it isn’t about YOU, it is about your book and the responses and emotions that it has fueled. There is a difference from this, and what I like to call, ‘positive criticism’ which actually is written or said to you, to aid you as an author. Every single one of us need to be told how to improve or we will be slower to develop but as far as the ‘impure motive group’, don’t give them the time of day. Don’t respond to the foolishness if you happen to see it – it just spurs them on and you end up looking like someone that can’t take the heat – when all you may have been doing was trying to explain or correct false information. Don’t do it – that’s what they want. Don’t let anyone stop you from honing your craft and doing what you love because people will try, especially if you get any sort of positive praise. It’s not a matter of IF it happens, it is a matter of WHEN and at the end of the day, you write because you LOVE it – remember that.

Now for the hot stuff :)
What’s your favorite sexual position? Many of them, I have no specific favorite but I do like face to face contact to write about it as well as experience. The intimacy level for this is off the charts.

Have you ever had to step away from the computer for some much needed air during or after an erotic scene? Yes, yes and yes!

What’s inside the drawer of your nightstand? (If you don’t have a nightstand, what would be in your drawer?) Oh my...lol  There are flavor water packets, some of my books (I sometimes need to go back and re-read something for a sequel), scissors, lip gloss, a bunch of old receipts that need to be thrown out, salt and pepper (yes, I sometimes eat in bed, lol) a bullet (yeah...the sexual kind), a dirty sex card game and odds and ends that no one gives a damn about.

What’s the sexiest thing you’ve done in the name of research? Interview a male porn star.

Does size really matter? Yes, but it is not everything. Girth is more important than length but even more important than that – if he doesn’t know how to ‘use it’, it doesn’t matter if he has 8 or 9 inches and it’s wide as a doorknob, it will not be pleasurable.

Thanks Tiana!

Readers, check out this book trailer for Tiana Laveen's book The Naughty Sins of a Saint

Dr. Saint Aknaten is anything but ordinary. From his unique ethnic makeup, the product of a North Korean mother and Egyptian father, to his career as a sex therapist and public speaker, his life is filled with excitement, tragedy, oddities, and lust-filled company. He hails from New York City, but his influence doesn’t stop there. Saint is internationally known. Toggling between holistic ideologies and gritty X-rated teachings, he captures male audiences everywhere as he preaches his controversial, racially driven philosophy – that all non-Black men should pursue Black women. Regardless of his magnetic ability to attract droves of women wherever he steps foot, Saint is desperately on the hunt for just one whom he has pet-named his “goddess.” His search comes to an unanticipated end as he conducts an interview with the outspoken and beautiful radio personality, Xenia Donnellson, an air-waves sensation from Los Angeles. Making Xenia see things his way becomes a challenge that he is more than willing to accept. Xenia succumbs to the hypnotic charms of Saint’s addictive essence, but not without invisible nemeses hanging in the wind, waiting for a chance to strike. Saint will do anything and everything to protect his “queen” including confronting his suppressed fear that he possesses unwanted psychic abilities. Can Saint overcome all and finally obtain the peace he has long sought after? Only time will tell.

Excerpt:
“Just when I think you can’t get any weirder.” Xenia laughed as she looked away.
“This tattoo on my back has multiple meanings,” Saint said. “She represents my guardian angel. The chakras running up and down her body represent my sixth sense, my spirituality, and my calling. On the flip side she represents my ‘goddess,’ our connection and love for one another. She’s illustrated on my back, and her placement is perfectly in line with my heart. That means she always has my back, is always in my heart, and I’ll protect her no matter what. She’s you.”
Xenia looked at Saint, feeling his sincerity fill the room.
“You’re dead serious,” she finally said as she shook her head in disbelief. “Either you really are crazy, or you’re telling the truth. I’m not certain which just yet.” Saint took her hand and placed it on his heart. Xenia closed her eyes and smiled as she felt it beating under his warm skin.
“You have to give me permission,” he said. “I’ve never attempted this with anyone else, but I want to try.”
“What? What are you talking about?” Xenia asked softly.
“Keep your hand on my heart. Concentrate. I’m going to put my hand over your heart, too. Ask me a question that you know I wouldn’t know the answer to,” he said.
Xenia laughed. “Come on, Saint. This is silly!”
“Please try,” Saint urged. “Think of your question, and think of the answer very clearly in your mind.”
Xenia exhaled, “Well, OK.” She thought for a moment. “OK, I have it.”
Saint nodded, “Slow your breathing. Be as calm as you can, then ask me.”
He waited as Xenia closed her eyes and concentrated.
“I’m ready,” she said. “When I was six years old, I had a favorite – something. My mother would try to make me leave it at home, and I’d cry and have a fit if she took it away. What was it?”
Saint closed his eyes and held her hand harder to his chest while he kept his palm over her heart. Xenia watched as his eyes moved rapidly under their lids.
“It was a yellowish, maybe a light-orange, teddy bear with one blue eye and one black button sewn for the other because the other had fallen off and was never found again. Your grandmother had given it to you a couple years before she died unexpectedly, so you became more attached to the teddy bear after her passing. You didn’t understand death, but the teddy bear gave you comfort. You named her ‘Pumpkin.’”
Xenia gasped, snatching her hand away. She put her hand over her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes. “Oh, my God, it’s true! What you said is true. How did you do that?”
Saint carefully reached over to her face and wiped her tears. “I don’t know. I honestly don’t know.”
“Saint I don’t know how to feel about you,” Xenia said.
“I didn’t mean to scare you.” He took her hand and held it. “I was just trying to show you that I’m for real. This isn’t a game to me. This is my life, this is your life. I wasn’t even sure I could do it. I just felt that I probably could. For all I know, I may only be able to do it with you. I have no idea. I usually just get a feeling. I don’t need to touch anyone or have them touch me. Unless it’s a dream, it isn’t as detailed as what we just experienced. The power of touch and your having an open mind helped me do it.”
“I honestly didn’t think you’d know.”
“Yes, but a part of you wanted me to know, and that helped,” Saint explained. “You wanted me to be right.” He leaned close to her face, rubbing his nose playfully against her cheek as he caressed her chin. Saint lowered his mouth to the side of her neck, gently sucking as he wrapped his arm around her stomach. He finished off with a soft peck. “Just relax for a minute. I’ll order us something to eat. Do you like eggs and turkey sausage?”
‘Mount – mate – afterglow – she’s mine,’ he thought.
Xenia nodded. She sighed weakly, “You’re a sadist, Saint. You wore me out.” She smiled happily into her pillow as she relived the carnal lovemaking in her mind before falling back to sleep. Saint grinned, patted her back, then picked up the hotel phone and called for room service...

And don't miss book 2 of the series When Saint Goes Marching In

It is six years later and Saint and Xenia have two beautiful sons and are enjoying their lives in sunny California. Having started a new leg of his career, Saint takes on innovative responsibilities, relishing the excitement of his job—from wealthy Rainbeau men hiring him for sexual assistance with their wives, to planning to snare a prolific, insane, and hate-filled killer on the loose. Still doing conferences, Saint is distracted by recent harassment and tortures that target Rainbeau men and their spouses in a small town in Missouri. Asked by the White Knights of the Round Table to assist in the troubling case, Saint uses his mental agility and psychic abilities to help capture the man responsible and bring him to justice. Just when he thinks the drama is over, another predicament arises in the form of Saint’s sultry ex-girlfriend who has an axe to grind. She is a blast from his past but she won’t disappear without wreaking havoc. As their lives unfold, revenge is served to Saint in a manner that is of nightmarish proportions, demolishing his personal life irreparably. Saint is forced into a new life that becomes an emotional roller coaster as he chases a serial killer while simultaneously trying to regain the love and trust of his soulmate. Will Saint be able to outsmart a sociopath? Will Xenia and Saint survive this true test of their union? March with Saint and come find out.

Guest Author: Crystal Drake

I'm opening my blog today to my first guest of the New Year, Author Crystal Drake! Welcome, Crystal!

Good day, lovers of the abnormal.

Happy New Year, everyone! I wish you a joy-filled and prosperous year for you and your family.

Hello, my name is Crystal Drake, and I write sexy, high-action Shape-shifter/Sci-Fi Romantic Adventure. It’s the first of many Service Hero Appreciation Days to come on Tonya’s blog, and she’s blessed me with the first spot. That kicks the New Year off right for me.

My hero is a police officer, and I depend on all that cop-sexiness. Why do cops turn us on? Is it the uniform? The power? The discipline? The gun? The guts? Oh, yes, it’s all those for me. They make me fantasize of being a bad girl if a little misadventure could put me in the attention of a handsome guardian of the law. :-) Of course, in real life, flirting with a police officer doesn’t get a girl anywhere. (I’ve heard.)

But, in the fantasy world… Oh, the places it can get you. Teasing a badge can get you a pair of steel bracelets that link together. Or you might find yourself in the arms of an alpha who knows how to thrive on risk. Maybe you’ll live a harrowing adventure with a super-hot cop capable of taking down the bad guys and saving your life. Or ready to defend and, if necessary, pay the ultimate price for another’s safety. That’s the heart of an alpha with a badge, and he deserves passion and love. Doesn’t he? I think so.

Applause to our law enforcement communities who keep us safe.

Do you remember when your eyes met the eyes of a stranger, and you knew you’d be linked to that person forever? That amazing touch of fate is universal entanglement. Many of us have been there. Wouldn’t you love to entangle with someone so special again? How far would you go to keep the magic? What lie would you tell, what deceit would you employ to force your way?

Scholar Willa Canatar must save her kidnapped sister, but tolerating the handsome but nasty-dispositioned investigator is torture. When tragedy blows their mission apart, the priestess and the cop become entangled in the turbulent forces of the universe.

The invincible Master of Cig wants the shape-shifters dead, their magic stolen, so he’s experimenting on them, exterminating their prophecy of his fall. Before he accomplishes his evil plot, he’ll face a sneaky cop with few boundaries, a beautiful priestess, and a wolf-spirit from the Second Universe ready to prove the Master’s immortality a myth.

Someone near the Master holds the secret to trumping the undefeated Kade Quil—take the priestess the high commander wants, and kill his people.

In my novel Magnetic, Entangled’s prequel, Kade is a crass and shadowy side figure. Not even his best friend is sure what goes on in the high commander’s head. Kade had begged for more stage time than I could afford him in Magnetic. His alpha-male bully character is very fun to explore in Entangled. Kade is my mother’s favorite of all my heroes for his transformation from a self-centered butthead into a pretty decent guy. Considering. Oh, the power of love. :-)

At the Spring

An unnamable despondency lingering in his dark eyes cut into her soul.
“What disturbs you, Kade? Do you believe Valco is still around? I doubt he is. Your appearance gave him great desire to be away from here.”
“No, I’ve no worries of that traitor. And if he’s hidden in the woods watching, he would see he can’t take you from me.”
But Kade looked sad and preoccupied. She’d seen him angry, frustrated, gleeful, sympathetic, quiet, and always sexy, but never sad.
“Tell me what bothers you.”
“I’m waiting for something, Willa,” Kade confessed to her mysteriously. “I’m prepared to wait a while. I know I’ll have to be patient, nurture it along until it finally happens. But I’m concentrated on that goal. I have to know for sure.”
She loathed the distance between them and whatever stole his mind from her. She wanted to feel his weight against her, feel him inside her when their moment of finest pleasure happened. She felt fireworks for him now when she closed her eyes.
The thought occurred to her that he might not make love to her until he’d received this profound thing he awaited, and she couldn’t live with that. Did he blame her for some part of Valco’s sin against them?
“Kade, whatever I’ve done to upset you, tell me of it and forgive me. You feel distant, and all I want is for you to come back and make love to me. I want to feel like I’m yours again.”
Kade broke out into the loudest laugh she’d ever heard, stunning her.
The light in his eyes and the grin on his face were suddenly outrageous. “I’d thought it would take so much longer to hear you say that. I’d been sure of it. I’d been prepared to wait weeks to hear you ask me to make love to you, Willa.”
She smiled, but her expression couldn’t have reflected her relief to hear he hadn’t grown tired of her, wasn’t considering dumping her on the side of the road like last week’s entertainment.
Not yet.
He pressed a hot kiss to her wanting mouth, moving to put himself between her legs. Where he belonged. The feel of him there made her shiver.
When she parted from his kiss, she gazed into his sexy eyes filled too easily with victory. Was reassurance of her true devotion all he wanted? She would have built a pyramid for him.
“Kade, will you make love to me?” Already, her breath was labored. “I’ve an unrelenting drive to stay in your touch and beneath you. Locked in your custody, High Commander.”
His smile triumphant, he kissed her deeply again, a hot kiss full of want that made her body throb. The steamy water rocked against their bodies, melting them into one.
He parted from her lips with mischief in his eyes, and his smile grew into his wolf’s grin. His vision scanning the moonlight-dappled woods around them, he whispered, “Do you think the trickster could be watching us?”
A little anxious at the prospect, she scanned the forest, leaves spinning to the gentle wind. “There are thick bushes…wide trees…and shadow. He could be there.”
Kade’s smile turned vengeful. “I’m going to show him he can’t touch my stuff.”
The sexy high commander rose from the water, his bronze body glittering with moonlit drizzles, and he went to her clothes folded neatly in the grass. He shook out the silver gown he’d stolen for her and spread the full skirt onto the grass. Next, he bundled his own uniform slacks and her night rail and placed it at the neck of the gown, then he returned for her.
Drawing her to her feet, he scooped her up into her arms, surprising her and making her giggle. The cool air slapped her body made hot by the springs, and she shivered.
“I’ll warm you,” Kade whispered back, his naughty expression filling her with anticipation. Her arms around his neck, she pressed a giggling kiss to his lips, and the contact sent a rush of pleasure through her.
He hauled her to the clothes, laid her upon the spread dress, and made sure the wadded clothes served as her pillow. He folded his uniform shell and placed it beneath her hips, boosting them higher for his mischief.
Thrill shot through her. What would he do?
Their smiles were out of control.
“Do you think Valco’s watching?” Her sight again combed through the shadow and trees in search of a sign of human movement. It was so dark deep within the veil of forest around them.
Over her, Kade gently cupped her chin and brought her sight back to him.
“If that traitor is spying on us, this is what I want him to see. This will warn him. If he attempts to take you again…he’ll draw my blade.”
The high commander opened her legs, knelt between them in his power position, and he caressed her thighs with his big, hot hands. Her legs quivered and heated. The wetness he caused was instant. The sight of his ready erection made her hungry for him. He stretched over her and applied a hungry kiss to her lips that drove away her fear.
Then he moved down her body, placing tiny sucking kisses down her neck and shoulders, tickling her. The chilly breeze titillated her flesh. His hot mouth reached her breasts to find them rushing for his attention. He suckled one, then the other, and she couldn’t stop whispering his name. He trailed kisses down her stomach until he reached the apex of her womanhood. The imagining of his mouth anywhere near that pleasure center made her mind and body feel as though she spun.
“Oh, Kade…” came out in a rushing breath, her body shivering again.
“Willa… I want Valco to see me worship you like this.”
She shuddered and moaned and felt terribly hungry.
“You’re very wet, Willa… Do you want me?”
Her thighs shook at his stimulation. “I don’t want anything like I want you, Kade.”
“I don’t want anything like I want you, priestess. Tell that deceiver he can’t take you from me, Willa.”
Kade went down on her, surprising her and making her cry out his name.
